Born in The Ivory Coast, Samy Thiébault follows a classic route within the CNR of Bordeaux before bringing in in 2004 in prestigious Higher National Conservatory for Music of Paris in the class of jazz. He obtains his graduation in 2008.
At the same time as his musical studies he obtains a master's degree in philosophy in Sorbonne ( 2001 ). He brings out his first opus "Blues For Nel " ( Musicast) in 2004. The album is worth to him a frank public and critical success. In June 2007, he presents his second album in quintet "Gaya Scienza" (B Flat / Discograph, on 2007). The group conquers then a wide public and benefits fa high critical support: 4 stars Jazzman, Selection of the Libération newspaper, Top 5 of the best albums jazz and World on 2007 according to Inrockuptibles, album of the week and playlist on FIP, playlist on the radio TSF...

The orchestra of this "Coltranien in the best sense of the term" (The New Observer) presents in November, 2010 an ambitious and original project : « The Upanishad Experiences » suite of compositions for  eleven musicians  freely inspired by texts of Nietzsche and by Baudelaire. The actor Jackie Berroyer intervenes as narrator there and participates in the putting in echo of the music and the poetry. The osmosis between the wealth of the writing, the freedom of the improvisers, the sound of a united orchestra and the mystic evoked by the poems created a real dynamics around the group and around the saxophonist. He is then present on the most important Jazz stages in France and drains a public always more and more numerous and believer.
Year 2013 marks a new stage in the route of this requiring artist in constant search, with the publication of its new album, "Clear Fire" on his own label "Gaya Music Production". The rhythm and its diverse internal or outside dances, is the object of this new adventure, in a physical and spiritual way. The contribution of the voice in the orchestration, the traditional percussions of the Maghreb (from where Samy is partially native) associated with a powerful rhythmic, knowing the tradition and the language of the most living jazz, gives birth to an original, organic sound material, just as much as meditative.
Let's add that Samy Thiébault writes regularly for the theater and the cinema: for the Festival of Avignon 2009 with the piece of Matei Visniec « L'histoire des ours Pandas », for Edouard Tissot's movie "En son absence" (October, 2010), and for the movie of Yvon Marciano "Vivre ! " (September, 2009). He teaches saxophone and improvised music at the Conservatory of Choisy Le Roi since september 2010.
